End of tenancy cleaning checklist (the one your letting agent uses)

May 10, 2026

If you are doing your own end-of-tenancy clean, the difference between getting your full deposit back and losing some of it usually comes down to whether you cleaned the things the inventory clerk is going to look at. Most people miss the same things every time.

Kitchen

  • Inside oven (including door glass and shelves)
  • Hob and hood — degreased
  • Fridge inside, including the seal
  • Behind the fridge and freezer (move them out)
  • Inside all cupboards, including under-sink
  • Bin (washed inside and out)

Bathroom

  • Limescale from taps, showerhead, screen, tiles
  • Mould from grouting and silicone
  • Toilet base and behind the bowl
  • Mirror — streak free

Living areas

  • Skirting boards (a torch helps you see what you missed)
  • Light switches and door handles
  • Behind sofas and beds
  • Carpets vacuumed slowly enough to actually pull dust out

If this list feels overwhelming, that is what we do for £160-£320 depending on property size, with a 48-hour comeback guarantee if the agent fails the clean.
